last night, a storm rode in from the alps
distant thunder rumbled, hungry and threatening.
the sky blackened and lightning ripped the dark.
the winds came. like invisible giants shouldering the trees out of their way.
short lived, anger spent. tempers cooled by rain.
wish it had lasted longer.
Don't you just love those atmospheric shows ... I do! The weather plays on a vast canvass. And while I couldn't see all that you saw, I could follow your potent portrayal through the words you chose Lynn. :D
ReplyDeleteLove it! We had one of those storms today ~ so exciting to watch!
ReplyDeleteWonderful!! It's felt like we've needed a storm like that here today, but it hasn't arrived, yet... (I'm hoping by writing this I might wish it into being!)
ReplyDeleteLooks threatening and wonderful.I love storms but we haven't had any here recently.

Yes, Jan! It's like action painting on a huge scale.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had one too, Donna!
We had a few days like that, Claire, where it felt like it would storm any moment, but didn't. Hope yours did.
Wishing a good storm or two your way, Ruby.
The sky and weather can create the best images...
ReplyDeleteThey sure can, Donna!
ReplyDeleteI love your description of the storm, especially... 'the winds came. like invisible giants shouldering the trees out of their way.'
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carrie. Can you tell I love storms...
ReplyDeleteI love a good storm - in which you relinquish yourself to the power of nature - Lovely writing and pictures!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Katherine. That's just it, the relinquishing of oneself to nature's power. Terribly humbling and exciting!
